Maintaining the Gold Standard in Venous Sonography.
The quality and effectiveness of any vascular or vein procedure is largely dependent upon the standards of the vascular lab and expertise of its technicians. The standards of DVVI’s state-of-the-art vascular lab are unsurpassed as the only facility in the area that is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission, maintaining unparalleled standards of excellence.
The studies performed at DVVI are pain free, non-invasive and are all conducted by a Registered Vascular Technologist. An ultrasound of the veins of the legs is the most accurate way to detect vein disease, which is the root case of varicose veins.
Created in 1990 by uniting physicians, technologists and sonographers from various sponsoring organizations, the IAC Board of Directors composed the Standards, an extensive document defining the minimal requirements for noninvasive vascular laboratories to provide high quality care. The IAC Standards are used by laboratories as both a guideline and the foundation to create and achieve higher quality care goals.
The process of DVVI being awarded this accreditation included:
- A comprehensive self-evaluation by laboratory staff.
- Completion of the application for accreditation requiring information on all aspects of laboratory operation as well as the submission of actual case studies for review.
- After submitting the application to the IAC, the application underwent a confidential peer-review by IAC trained reviewers, including physicians, technologists and sonographers, before the Board of Directors made the final decision approve the accreditation.
This gold standard of care is why DVVI has been selected by the West Coast Ultrasound Institute’s School of Medical Sonography to be a training site for Venous Sonography. Our staff of full-time, accredited Venous Sonographers has extensive experience in this specialized field and provides accurate sonographic diagnosis of problems to determine proper treatment of venous disease. DVVI sonographers work side by side with our vascular surgeons to offer the most accurate diagnosis possible.
